Jack Gleeson (actor, “Game of Thrones,” Joffrey Baratheon)

[H]e is fantastic. Everybody loathes Joffrey, and a large part of that is because Gleeson is killing it. Maisie Williams as Arya gets all the press, it seems, and she certainly deserves it, but we should recognize Gleeson’s ability to be a completely unlikable bastard whom everybody loves to hate.

Also, by all accounts, Jack Gleeson is a super-nice, sweet kid. He’s planning on a career in academia after Game of Thrones is over. He doesn’t even like to curse. And here’s a gif of him wearing a shirt about Latin grammar. It’s about the most adorably nerdy thing I’ve ever seen.

Jack is a third-year student at Trinity College Dublin in Ireland, and last year was granted the coveted accolade of TCD Scholar.

“After ‘Game Of Thrones’ I’d be happy to do some amateur plays but I don’t think I want to do any more professional acting. I’d like to be an academic, a philosophy lecturer if possible. I’d do a Masters in Ancient Hebrew maybe, and a PhD hopefully, if I get in … The thing about that level of acting is that it is very financially rewarding but for me it is a balancing act. I’m happy to sacrifice a big pay cheque for my happiness, if that’s not too corny a thing to say. It’s probably more naive than mature to say that, maybe, but that’s how I feel.”

He is fantastic!! And I love that in real life he wants to get a Ph. D. in Hebrew literature … Hopefully the money he made playing Joffrey will help foot the bills :)

WOW.  All of the younger actors and actresses in GOT deserve huuuuuge props for taking on such complicated characters, but Jack is amazing.  He plays the most hated main character who has no redeeming qualities, and he plays the character beautifully.  I am somewhat saddened that he does not want to do more professional acting after GOT, but I hope his academic career makes him happy and fulfilled.  

Plus, he would look adorable in tweed.
